Pavilion of Dreams

An artwork was commissioned by the Southport Dramatic Club in  2021.  They requested an artwork to be created in celebration of their  centenary  1920 - 2020.  The artwork is positioned in the main foyer of the Little Theatre in Southport.

The artwork created is a mixed media outcome, comprising three ply wood panels on constructed timber frames, 70cm x 110cm each, and are developed using a combination of collage materials, photographic image, image transfers and acrylic paint.

Each piece reflects a history and growth of the Southport Dramatic Club/Little Theatre using image and text to suggest narratives across time and place.

‘Pavilion of Dreams’ is a mixed media triptych inspired by a collection of images and narratives from the Southport Dramatic Club one-hundred-year history.  The art work combines a collage of photographs, posters, scripts and statements, constructing and reconstructing elements of the Southport Dramatic Club’s story, along with other images relevant to significant periods of time surrounding the history of the Little Theatre.  The juxtaposed images and statements are used to create a content that evokes memories of past times, but also reflects the growth of the SDC community, its youth, and future development …. ‘the possibilities are endless’ and ‘the future will bring so much more’.
